Experience / Customer service at Amazon

Listen.
Understand.
Help.

Behind every order number is a person who needs an answer. Customer service taught me to bring information and expectations together.

01 / MY ROLE

One enquiry.
Several perspectives.

I helped individual and business customers with product, order and shipping enquiries.

This involved research, working with internal CRM systems and documenting case histories. The key was to find relevant information and clearly explain what was known and what would happen next.

I bring this experience to technical and operational tasks: asking focused questions, taking the previous history into account and helping the next person continue without starting from scratch.

02 / SEE HOW I WORK

The enquiry changes.
The standard stays.

Simplified examples from my area of work.
These are not real customer cases or internal procedures.

“Where is my order?”

  1. Understand the context

Which order is involved? What information has already been shared?

  2. Research the current status

Check the order and shipping information, taking the previous history into account.

  3. Respond clearly

Explain what is known, identify open points and document the work.

03 / WHAT STAYS WITH ME

Communication is
part of the solution.

Stay calm when things are uncertain.

A focused question helps more than a quick assumption.

Make the information easy to follow.

A clearly documented history makes the next step easier.

Keep the person in mind.

An accurate answer also needs to be understandable and helpful.

THE NEXT PERSPECTIVE

How this becomes
a workflow.
